Dennard-Pope

Mary Ruth Pope and Sammy Wayne Dennard were married Aug. 12 in an 8 p.m. ceremony at the First Baptist Church of West Blocton. The Rev. Charlie Macon Pope, father of the bride, officiated at the service. Nutpial [sic Nuptial] music was presented by Mrs. Evelyn Murphy, organist and Ernest Hickman, soloist.

Parents of the couple are the Rev. and Mrs. Charlie Macon Pope of West Blocton and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wayne Dennard of Goldthwaite, Tex.

Given in marriage by her brother, Charlie Macon Pope, Jr., the bride wore a gown of white satin designed with a lace covered bodice accented by a scalloped neckline and long bell sleeves of alencon lace. A cathedral-length train of satin outlined by appliques of lace was attached to the empire bodice. The bridal vail of illusion was attached to a headpiece of flower petals of silk organza accented with lily of the valley and pearls. She carried a bouquet of daisies and stephanotis centered with a white orchid and mounted on a white Bible.

Mrs. Faye Hickman of West Blocton was matron of honor and Wanda Pope of West Blocton was maid of honor. The attendants wore formal gowns of yellow crepe accented with sequined lace around the necklines and empire waistlines. They wore pillbox veils of yellow illusion accented with sequined lace and carried bouquets of yellow daisies.

The bridegroom's father was best man. Ushers were Jim Mohon of Houston, Tex., Keith Peters of Centreville, Dennis Phillips of Houston and King White of McRae, Ga.

Following a reception at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Harvey Pope, the couple left for a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn. They will live in Tuscaloosa.
