Whittington Pair Will Be Honored

Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Whittington, 406 West Jefferson street, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, May 22. A family dinner will be served at the Illinois hotel at noon, and they will hold an open house for all their friends from 3 to 5 p. m. next Sunday with a second period from 7 to 9 p. m. later.

Mr. and Mrs. Whittington were married in Vicksburg, Miss., May 23, 1888. They moved to Fort Worth, Texas a short time later, where they resided until they moved to Bloomington 35 years ago.

They have six children living: Mrs. H. A. Iungerich of Los Angeles, Calif., John Whittington Jr., of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. L. C. Sherrill and Mrs. William Merna of this city, Mrs. John Marinchek of Chicago, and Roy Whittington of Milwaukee, Wis. Three children of the family are dead.

There are 12 grandchildren. In Bloomington are Mary Suzanne and Eleanor Louise Merna and William Merna Jr.; Barbara Jean, Phyllis Lee and Shirley Ann Sherrill; John Harold and Mary Lou Whittington reside in Dallas, Tex.; Richard Neil Whittington, in Milwaukee, Wis.; John Marinchek Jr., in Chicago; Patricia Ann Iungerich, in Los Angeles, Calif., while her sister, Miss Mary Elizabeth Iungerich resides at the home of her grandparents.
