Note on Lambda production in Ni + Cu at 2A GeV

Marvin's paper on Lambda production in EOS at the Bevalac can be obtained here (as a ps file) and is also posted on xxx at LANL. The Lambda multiplicity as a function of inferred impact parameter can be read-off directly from the top panel of Fig 3 in the paper, and comes out to be about 0.13 Lambdas per event for the most central collisions. Dieter's much lower number attributed to Marvin's analysis came from manually integrating Marvin's dN/dy (Fig. 2 in the paper), but Dieter used an early draft in which Fig. 2 had a misleading normalization on the vertical scale.

So Kent State offers a third version of the Lambda excitation function (and here's a version readable by people over 40 years old). This is based on Dieter's kumac, but with the correct EOS point, and with the FOPI point included also. I believe that the 1.8AGeV Ar + KCl point from the Bevalac streamer chamber is too low, and is not shown. This plot is available in ps also.
