Minutes of E895 Meeting - Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997 ------------------------------------------------ Attendees: Hans-Georg Ritter (HGR), Gulshan Rai (GR), Dieter Best (DB) Heng Liu (HL), Jessica Kintner (JK), Nathan Stone (NS), James Symons (JS) News Items: - Pentium II farm now has 100baseT connection for each node (still needs NFS) - EOS mass storage space will be deactivated (deleted) at the end of October. --> ALL CONCERNED PARTIES MUST TRANSFER VALUABLE DATA ELSEWHERE News from Whistler: - had 6 good presentations - held discussion of tasks for the upcoming week (toward software decision) - identified discrepancies between efficiency-corrected Lambda yield between SUNY and LBNL. requires further investigation News on Quark Matter: (Editor's note: In case you haven't heard, only one E895 paper was accepted for presentation --> Heng Liu : Flow studies) - In preparation for QM97 (and for purposes of software comparison) we will commence running 2D-BTF @ 6/8 GeV. If necessary, we will also run 2/4 GeV, later. - all calibration files are in CVS. Several "bad" ones taken out. Progress reports: - ML is running 8 GeV @ OSU (tape 75) - Slow Simulator: - CVS version works with simulated particles, but still does not work with "embeded" events - GR tuned parameters to match the E895 setup. This is something that has not been done in any of the existing codes. - some "features" of the "original" slow simulator have been deleted. These may (or may not) be retrieved. GR will speak with Eric Beals to determine this. - JK is working on Pion flow @ 1 GeV for a draft with UCD - DB fixed the divide.by.zero error in BTF - DB finds some peculiarities with V0 multiplicities in similar event sets - other characteristics (track multiplicity, etc) appear the same Action Items: - DB will import ML's monitoring scripts to the LBNL Pentium farm - GR will talk to Tina Declerck about NFS for the LBNL Pentiums - GR will speak with Eric Beals to look for older SlowSim "features" - GR will speak with Doug Olson about a local LBNL email distribution list Minuteman: Nathan Stone
