Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

Students planning to enter graduate school after receiving a baccalaureate degree normally are expected to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Students may take the computer-based General Test up to six times per testing year. The retest policy allows students to retake the General Test after 60 days. The GRE Program has introduced a service, Scores by Phone, that allows students to learn their scores about 10 to 14 days earlier than the score report mailing dates published in the GRE Bulletin, which becomes available in June.

Results of a recent study published in the Proceedings of the American Philosophical Association (Vol. 69, #2, p. 78) show that, as a group, physics and astronomy majors outperform essentially all other majors on the GRE!
