Susan & Sarah, 1999 before The Cowboy Junkies concert.

I met Sarah in 1998 at Indiana University. We lived in the same drab concrete dorm,
Ashton-Weatherly. Sarah was certainly the brightest painting on the wall. Today, she is
still one of the most talented and unique individuals I know. Sarah is a gifted artist!
In a dorm full of single rooms, friends are hard to find. Sarah immediately became one of the trustworthiest friends I have ever had. If we made plans, she never flaked out! If I was sad, she was there. When I was partying, we were together. If I asked, she was honest. If I needed someone to help me, she did it. And when I met Michael, graduated from college and made some of the most unpredictable decisions I had ever made in my life, most of my friends abandoned me but not Sarah. She was supportive as always. |
I still have a lot in common with Sarah. Among other things, we share the desire to write
poetry & paint. I rely on her vision of art for inspiration and direction. I'm very proud to
say that in 2000 we published a small, independent collection of poetry together. Then, on
Jan. 2, 2001, Sarah moved to New Mexico and I cried my eyes out. I haven't had the chance to
see her since. I love and miss her so much and I am thankful that she is trekking it all the
way to Ohio be part of our wedding. She may not know it but Sarah is one of the most important
people in my life. ![]() Me & Sarah at Ashton-Weatherly, 1999. |
