*This date of birth is from bible records. His age (48) in the 1850 census suggests that he might have been born in 1802.

**Henry TAUNTON's bible records that Lovetess Elmina Ann DAVIS was born June 6, 1828 and that L. E. A.. DAVIS and S. A. SMITH were married on February 26, 1851. It is probable that Lovetess was related to Henry's wife, Temperance M. DAVIS. She was possibly a daughter born out of wedlock or a younger sister.
