The GEANT drawing routines allow for the generation of arbitrary views of the volumes in the geometrical tree. However, the specification of a particular view may involve many parameters, which must be carefully chosen. Specialized views may be difficult to specify, or may involve a long series of commands.
The SETVIEW software provides an interface to the GEANT drawing package for the EOSGX event display. Simple views of the geometrical setup may be obtained with a minimum of user-supplied parameters. For specialized views, a unified approach has been used in which the parameters of a new view may be specified with reference to the coordinate system of any GEANT volume. This gives the user a means of describing a view orientation in the simplest possible way.
